Introduction of the geological condition of Qingdao Bay Bridge

Through detailed geological survey and reconnaissance over the bridge location and nearby area, the geological “code” in the entire Jiaozhou Bay Area was basically uncovered. The bridge location is divided into four structural units: Jiaozhou – Wangtai Hollow, Jimo – Cangkou Hollow, Xiaozhushan Heave and Qingdao – Laoshan Heave. The lithology at the bridge location is mainly the lava and alloclastic rock of Qingshan Group in cretaceous. To the south and over the Haoguanzhuang sunder, it was the Jiaonan Heave, and the crystallized base is composed of mainly metamophic rock belonging to Archaean and Proterozoic Jiaonan Group; to the east, the crystallized base at the area in the east of Cangkou Sunder is granite in Yanshan Period.

 

The bedrock uncovered during survey was the sedimentary rocks and effusive rock stratum in the cretaceous of Mesozoic Erathem, as well as the intrusion rock of Laoshanchao Unit in the later Yanshan Period.
